Ubani and Kristin Wenzel will showcase the unique outcomes of the research workshop “(Re)Collecting Architecture”, held on June 22-23 in Tbilisi.
Bucharest-based artist Kristin Wenzel, in partnership with students from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and Ubani, organized a workshop to explore the decorative elements of Tbilisi through a collective walk. Participants employed basic molding techniques during this walk to gather small architectural fragments. The process sought to establish a tangible connection between individual experiences and shared memories, interpreting the architecture as a cultural symbol and a space for communal engagement.
The workshop results presented at the exhibition unveil a micro-archive comprised of plaster replicas of fragments from the city. This collection can serve as a database for collective identity and offers a thought-provoking approach to re-examining the preservation of architectural heritage.
