“(Re)Collecting Architecture: memory, transformation, and identity”. Ubani and Kristin Wenzel workshop results exhibition

The exhibition “(Re)Collecting Architecture: memory, transformation, and identity” showcased the outcomes of a workshop that explored Tbilisi’s decorative elements through a collective walk.

On June 22-23, 2024, Ubani organised the research workshop “(Re)Collecting Architecture” by Kristin Wenzel, a multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of Template, in cooperation with Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. The workshop aimed to explore sustainable approaches to cultural and architectural heritage, delving into methods of care, protection, and conservation from a visual arts perspective. The participants used basic molding and casting techniques and collected minor architectural fragments in Tbilisi, drawing a line between personal experience and collective memory. The workshop results were presented in an exhibition held at Kinos Sakhli on June 27-29, featuring a micro-archive of plaster reproductions of Tbilisi’s fragments.
