“Ezologia — Porous Body of Tbilisi” exhibition

The exhibition “Ezologia — Porous Body of Tbilisi” is open to the public through September 25 at the Tbilisi History Museum. It marks the first phase of an interdisciplinary research project on the Tbilisian Courtyard, initiated by the multidisciplinary studio NWDS and Ubani.

Opened on June 26, the exhibition features analytical maps, architectural research, graphic studies, archival documents from the Tbilisi History Museum's collection, video materials, and photo essays by contemporary Georgian photographers Berika Beridze, Nanka Dolidze, and Gio Sumbadze — all responding to a single question: how the typology of the Tbilisian Courtyard shapes the city's urban fabric. Among the video works on display are student films produced under the guidance of O'Brien Van der Steen Architecture Studio in 2018, and a piece exploring how the Tbilisian Courtyard is depicted in Georgian Cinema.

The research behind the exhibition was carried out by a growing group of collaborators, including wit[h]nessing, studio2AM, art historian Tatia Gvineria, architect Natalia Vasadze, sociologist Mariam Jibuti, and other independent researchers across different fields. The project also included contributions from young professionals who collected the cartographic data through fieldwork mapping in spring 2026.

Tbilisi History Museum is hosting the exhibition through September 25, open daily except Mondays, from 10:00 to 18:00.
